Summer Glow—From the Outside In.
By: Janine Cole and Kim Omoruyi Registered Psychotherapists
As the sun stays out longer and we can shed our multiple layers, many of us notice a lift in our mood. Summer often brings vacations, more social gatherings, and a welcome break from routine. For some, this seasonal shift feels like a natural antidepressant—less stress, more fun.
While this season makes things feel easier, you may unintentionally put your mental health on the back burner. Therapy gets rescheduled, routines slip, and we tell ourselves, “I’ll deal with it in the fall.” Yet, summer is actually a powerful time to invest in your emotional well-being. You’re not in crisis mode, so it can be an opportunity to explore deeper healing, build coping strategies, and strengthen your foundation—before stress ramps back up.
Here are a few reminders to stay grounded:
Keep up with the practices that help you feel centred, even when things are going well.
Notice what’s really improving your mood versus what’s just a temporary distraction.
Let therapy be a space for growth, not just recovery.
At Oma, we believe your mental health deserves attention in every season…whether you’re new to therapy or it’s been a while, now may be the right time.
